The Ethan Allen Homestead and Museum honors one of Vermont's most heroic figures. This backwoodsman, statesman, practicing Deist, philosopher and writer lived on land near the Winooski River during the late 1700s. Today, guests can visit a reconstruction of his home, filled with authentic pioneer furnishings and a staffed visitors’ center.

Located in nearby Huntington, the Green Mountain Audubon Center is situated on more than 250 acres of hemlock swamps, river marshes, forests and flower-filled meadows. The Center encourages visitors to get in touch with nature and learn about natural resources. The hiking trails are popular with nature lovers, and the center provides a great place to cross-country ski and snowshoe during the winter.

Located on the University of Vermont campus, the Robert Hull Fleming Museum features more than 20,000 art and artifact items. Featured exhibits include a 9th century Assyrian relief, an Egyptian mummy and Sumerian cuneiform tablets. The museum also features European and American art collections, as well as works by Vermont photographers, painters and artisans.

The Shelburne Museum includes 37 buildings on about 45 acres. Stroll about and discover the historic Lake Champlain Lighthouse, an old-fashioned covered bridge, carriages and sleighs, 18th and 19th century furniture and the remains of an old jail cell. Electra Havemeyer Webb, who wanted to share her collection of Americana with the public, started the museum.
